Bhubaneswar: In order to ensure safe and enjoyable celebration of Ganesh Puja, the Odisha government has issued an advisory to puja committees.
The Energy department in its advisory issued on Monday, asked the Ganesh Puja committees to strictly follow safety norms, particularly regarding electricity installations, in their pandals.
It asked the committees to maintain a safe distance from overhead live wires while erecting the pandals. The committees can take the help and advice of the department officials in this regard, the advisory stated.
Since hundreds of pandals are erected in public places across the state, especially in major cities like Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Rourkela, Sambalpur and Berhampur, the organising committees must ensure that no untoward incident takes place during the visit of people, the department said.
Cautioning that the overhead electricity wires carry very high voltage, the department said the organisers should be careful while drawing connections from electricity posts.
Stating that the Energy officials will undertake inspection of the pandals, the department sought the cooperation of the puja committees for safety of the visitors as well as organisers.
