Bhubaneswar: The Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) Department has issued fresh guidlines pertaining to home isolation of COVID-19 positive patients.
The department’s Additional Chief Secretary, PK Mohapatra, informed of the new norms in a letter to all district collectors and directed them to ensure strict adherence in their respective jurisdictions.

When to begin home isolation?
1. For asymptomatic cases, the 10-day isolation period begins from the date on
which the swab (that tested positive) was collected for testing.
2. For symptomatic cases, the 10-day isolation period begins from the date of
the onset of symptoms.
When to discontinue home isolation?
For symptomatic cases, the home isolation ends after completing 10-day isolation post onset of symptoms and no fever for 3 days. For asymptomatic cases, completion of the 10-day isolation from the day of swab collection.
In such cases, a patient will stand discharged. However, the person will be advised to stay at home and self-monitor their health for further 7 days. Post this, the person can rejoin routine work and activities normally.
Isolation period for asymptomatic cases:
For asymptomatic cases, a 10-day isolation period is required (either at home or facility) that begins from the date of swab collection. This is to be followed by 7 days in home quarantine.
