Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has launched a survey of mental health condition of the teachers working in all schools running under School and Mass Education department.
According to sources, the government has directed the district education officers to ensure participation of all teachers in the survey.
The survey was launched in the state as per the provisions of Education Ministry’s ‘Manodarpan’ programme under National Education Policy-2020.
The mental health survey will be carried out in around 61,000 schools in the state till October 15. Around 2.07 lakh teachers imparting education in Class I to X will be covered to ascertain their mental ability.
The Ministry, in a letter last month, had written to the School and Mass Education department to ensure survey in all schools under it. The survey will help the Centre formulate policies for development of the teachers, the letter stated.
Since the teachers play an important role in overall mental and physical growth of children, it was necessary to know their worries or any kind of mental pressure, the letter stated.
