Odisha Govt Makes Minor Changes In COVID-19 Vaccination Schedule

Bhubaneswar: With the COVID-19 vaccination in Odisha set to resume on Monday after a break on Sunday, the state government has made some minor changes in the schedule.

Speaking to the media on Sunday, Director, Health and Family Welfare Bijay Panigrahi said the vaccination will be given in five sessions in all government and private medical colleges every day with 200 vaccinations in each session.

He said the vaccination of the remaining health workers will be completed by January 25. The number of vaccination centres will be increased for which instructions have been issued to the medical college authorities to conduct the vaccination at different places, he added.

He further said considering the number of health workers, the vaccination will be administered in one or two sessions with 100 vaccinations per session at the District Headquarters Hospitals (DHHs) and the Sub-Divisional Hospitals (SDHs).

“However, there will be only one session for the Community Health Centres (CHCs) and the Urban Community Health Centres (UCHCs) where 100 health workers will be vaccinated,” he said, adding that the sessions in these two health centres will be conducted on Monday, Thursday and Saturday.

Panigrahi also informed that the vaccination will continue on all workdays.

Out of total 3.28 lakh health workers in the state, 13,980 (85%) were vaccinated on the first day of the countrywide drive.

As told by the Additional Chief Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Pradipta Kumar Mohapatra, about 1.92 lakh health workers will be vaccinated in the first phase of vaccination.
