Bhubaneswar: In order to extend KALIA Scholarship to more students, Odisha government has made some modifications in its guidelines.
According to a release of Agriculture and Farmer Empowerment department on Monday, already 1,789 students have benefited from the KALIA Scholarship which has been operational since 2021-22.
The government had launched the scheme to provide financial assistance to the children of KALIA beneficiaries for undertaking professional/technical education in the government institutions in the state.
In order to secure the future of more students by providing scholarship, modifications have been made in KALIA Scholarship guidelines with approval of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, the release stated.
As per the new norms, the scholarship will be given to those who are undertaking professional/technical courses like Engineering, Medical, Agriculture & Allied, Nursing, Diploma and different trades in ITI in government or private institutions having AISHE code and in premier institutions like IIT, NIT, AIIMS, IIM, ICAR etc.
Following are the details of the modified KALIA Scholarship guidelines:
I. In addition to government institutions, students undertaking technical/professional courses in private institutes inside the state having All India Survey on Higher Education (AISHE) code are covered under the scholarship.
II. Students taking admission under technical/professional courses in premier institutes (both inside and outside the state) like NIT, IIT, IIM, AIIMS, ICAR, IARI IISER, NISER, IVRI, CIFE, NDRI) are also eligible.
III. In addition to the existing courses, PG and PhD courses (Professional/Technical ) are included under the scheme. It will be maximum of 2 years for PG and 4 years for PhD courses. The PhD courses must be related to the eligible post-graduation courses only in government institutions inside the state.
IV. Professional courses like BBA, BCA, MBA, MCA are also added to the present approved courses.
V. The course fees will be as per actual for the students taking admission in government institutions.
VI. The scholarship amount for the students studying in private institutions and premier institutes will be released as per the approved rate.
VII. No private institution outside the state will be allowed to participate in KALIA Scholarship.
VIII. KALIA Scholarship portal https://scholarship.odisha.gov.in for online application will remain open for students twice in a year i.e. 1st time in July-August and 2nd time in November-December.
