Bhubaneswar: As part of efforts to ensure speedy justice delivery, the Odisha government Monday notified the establishment of eleven Additional District Judge (ADJ) courts. Three of these are ADJ (Vigilance) Courts in different districts.
The department of Law issued an official notification for the establishment of these Vigilance courts in Puri, Nayagarh, and Kendrapada districts.
The move comes under the powers granted by Section 3 and Sub-section (1) of Section 9, read with Section 10 of the Odisha Civil Courts Act, 1984 (Odisha Act 18 of 1984), and Sub-section (1) of Section 8 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
Officials said that the decision was taken in consultation with the High Court of Orissa.
This apart, the government also notified the setting up of eight Additional District Judge (ADJ) Courts in Pipili (Puri district); Ranapur (Nayagarh); Banapur (Khurda district); Basudevpur (Bhadrak); Talcher (Angul); Rajgangpur (Sundargarh); Banki (Cuttack); and G. Udayagiri (Kandhamal district)
These courts have also been established under the Odisha Civil Courts Act, 1984, with approval from the Orissa High Court.
