Bhubaneswar: Vigilance officials on Friday nabbed the Block Education Officer (BEO) of Nuagada block in Gajapati district, Braja Kumar Nayak, while accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000.
He was accepting the bribe from a teacher to release his salary arrears, through Dillip Kumar Swain, an accountant cum data entry operator.
Separately, Kasinath Das, a clerk in the record section of Collectorate, Cuttack, was apprehended by Vigilance while accepting a bribe of Rs 6,000 from a complainant to provide him land records.
Earlier in the day, Vigilance officials conducted simultaneous searches on the properties of Sundargarh Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Biswajit Mohapatra in a Disproportionate Assets (DA) case on Friday.
