Bhubaneswar: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has accused Union Minister Bishweswar Tudu of resorting to falsehood to cover his involvement in the case of assault on two state government officers.
BJD leader Debasis Marandi, in a press release, said Tudu’s statement that he was innocent and was not involved in assault on any government official smacks of falsehood and attempt to cover his culpability.
Marandi questioned why the Union Minister of State for Tribal Affairs and Jal Shakti had obtained anticipatory bail from the Orissa High Court, if he had no role in the case.
Tudu’s statement that the officer concerned might have fractured his hand on his own reveals lowest level of morality on the part of a political leader who is a Union minister, said Marandi.
It may be noted that the High Court on Wednesday granted interim bail to the Union Minister in connection with the case of assaulting two government officers.
Tudu, who represents Mayurbhanj constituency in the Lok Sabha, had allegedly assaulted District Planning Board Deputy Director Ashwini Mallik and Assistant Director Debashis Mohapatra while the latter had gone to hold a meeting with the former at his office in Baripada on January 21.
