Bhubaneswar: The state government has decided to administer COVID-19 vaccination among inmates of jails who come under the target group in third phase of the drive.
In a letter to district collectors, municipal commissioners and CDMOs, the Health and Family Welfare department has requested them to plan for the vaccination of prisoners above 60 years and 45-59 years with defined co-morbid conditions in their areas.
The district officials have been told to prepare the plan in coordination with the respective district SP and jail officials.
The vaccination can be carried out either in a suitable healthcare facility or on the jail premises in the presence of an MBBS doctor, the letter added.
