Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government plans to build parks and children play areas in 92 gram panchayats of Keonjhar district affected by mining.
The step is aimed at providing quality open spaces and recreation spaces in the mining-affected areas of Keonjhar.
To be called Gram Udyans, these spaces will have walkways, outdoor gym, children play area, stage where local artistes can perform, gardens with seasonal plants and flower beds, spaces for yoga and meditation, decorative gazebo, seating space, café and rainwater recharge systems.
“The initiative will create joyous environment for children in rural areas, enhance quality of life and provide recreational activities for all age groups in remote parts of Keonjhar,” said district Collector Ashish Thakare.
