Bhubaneswar: Amid rising incidents of drone movement over Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri, the Odisha government is considering installation of a watchtower outside the 12th century shrine to strengthen surveillance capabilities.
Sharing this information on Thursday, Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan told reporters that the proposed move is aimed at monitoring drone activities around the temple complex.

While the authorities will take action against those responsible for such security breach, steps are being initiated to enhance the security arrangements surrounding the temple complex.
The Minister further stated that comprehensive checks are being carried out at the temple’s four gates, with closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras in operation to monitor activities of visitors.
With the installation of a watchtower outside the temple, security personnel will be able to keep a strict vigil on the movement of drones from an elevated platform, Harichandan said, adding that the aim is to strengthen surveillance for the safety and security of the shrine.
