Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government is looking to bring in reservation for top posts in civic ahead of urban local body elections.
In a draft notification issued on July 15, the Housing & Urban Development (HUD) department has proposed reservation for the offices of Chairpersons in 35 Municipalities and Notified Area Councils (NACs) across the state.
The proposed reservations cover various categories such as Scheduled Caste (Women), Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe (Women), Scheduled Tribe, Women and Unreserved.
The state government has invited objections or suggestions from the public within 15 days from the date of publication of the notification in the Odisha Gazette.
Any objection or suggestion has to be submitted in the office of the Director, Municipal Administration.
All representations will be considered before the reservations are finalised.
