Odisha Govt Provides Advanced Suits To Withstand 800 Degree Celsius To Fire Personnel

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Saturday provided advanced fire-resistant suits to Fire personnel.

According to a Fire Services department release, 500 suits were provided to the firemen, particularly those in urban and industrial areas, in the first phase. All the firemen will be covered in a phased manner.

The fireproof clothes used by the fire personnel presently are not designed to withstand extreme temperature and exposed them to get burnt. The new suits can withstand radiant temperature of 800 degree Celsius for 10 to 20 seconds. Those will now help the personnel enter the areas under fire to rescue people and properties.

Besides, the fire personnel will be provided gum boots, helmets and breathing apparatus sets that will enable them to carry out rescue operation in the places of poisonous gas leak, oxygen deficiency and fire, the release stated.
