Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government said it has provided financial assistance of Rs four lakh each to the families of 13 deceased working journalists so far in the current fiscal.
The government asserted that it is committed to the welfare of working journalists in the state as they place major incidents and problems of the society before the public.
Financial assistance of Rs four lakh is being provided to the nearest relatives of deceased working journalists through the Department of Information and Public Relations, the I&PR Department said in a post on X.
”The state government is committed to the welfare of working journalists in Odisha. Financial assistance of 4 lakh rupees is being provided to the nearest relatives of deceased working journalists through the Department of Information and Public Relations. In the current financial year, this assistance has been provided to 13 families.” the post said.
The department’s post also mentioned the names of the deceased journalists, whose families received the financial assistance so far this year.
