Bhubaneswar: With the intense heatwave sweeping Odisha and taking note of the forecast by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) about no let-up in the prevailing conditions till June 23, the state government on Tuesday further extended the summer vacation for all government and private schools till June 25.
A notification to this effect was issued by the School and Mass Education department by the order of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
The state government on May 16 had extended the summer vacation till June 21 as the heatwave continued to persist in most parts of the state. The schools were to reopen on June 18.
It may be mentioned that the state government on March 9 had announced commencement summer vacation beginning May 4.
However, it later revised the notification on April 24, announcing the summer vacation from April 25 till June 18 due to intense heatwave conditions.
