Bhubaneswar: Sensing the mood of the people on New Year’s Eve, the Odisha government on Monday decided to relax the selling hour of IMFL (Indian-made foreign liquor) ‘in shops’ and bars operating in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Puri and directed the Excise Commissioner to take action accordingly.
“The government, after careful consideration, in exercise of powers conferred under Section 93 of Odisha Excise Act, 2008 have been pleased to relax the selling hour for IMFL ‘in shops’ and bars operating in Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation, Cuttack Municipal Corporation and Puri municipality areas on the night of December 31 (New Year’s Eve) up to 1 am of January 1, 2020, in public interest,” said the additional secretary to the government in a letter to the Excise Commissioner.
Apart from this, similar instructions have been given to the collectors of Khurda, Puri and Cuttack, police commissioner, Puri SP and the stakeholders for information and necessary action.
