Bhubaneswar: The higher education department has released new guidelines for the examination of government universities and autonomous colleges.
The second and fourth semester examinations of the undergraduate courses and second semester examination for students of postgraduate courses will not be held in the current academic session, as per a notification of the department.
Stating that the students will be promoted automatically to their next grades, the notification said the colleges and universities can decide alternative methods to evaluate the performance of the students based on UGC guidelines.
For students, who have failed in some subjects in the intermediate semesters, back papers will be held as usual, except for sixth semester students.
“There will be no separate back paper examination for the UG students of Terminal Semester (6th Semester, 2020), if a student has maximum 2 back papers. However, if a student has more than two back papers, then he has to appear for regular examination in all the back papers as and when conducted,” the notification read.
But, back papers will be held for all the students of post-graduate courses for all semesters, it added.
Sri Jagannath Sanskrit Viswavidyalaya in Puri will announce the schedule of examinations under annual system. The first year students will give regular examinations.
The second year students will be automatically promoted to third year and back papers for the intermediate years will be held as per the schedule.
