Odisha Govt Releases Final Reservation List Of ZP Chief Posts; 10 Unreserved, 50% For Women

Bhubaneswar: As per its policy for women empowerment, the state government has reserved 50% of Zilla Parishad (ZP) chairman posts for women while 10 posts have been announced unreserved.

The Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Department on Saturday released the final list of reservations for the posts in all 30 districts ahead of the panchayat elections.

As per the notification of the department, 15 ZP chairman posts have been reserved for women candidates. Of those seats, three have been announced reserved for candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC) community and four to Scheduled Tribes (ST).

The government has announced two ZP chairman posts reserved for SC candidates and three for ST candidates. The posts in Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Boudh, Bhadrak and Jajpur have been reserved for SC candidates.

Similarly, the ZP chairman posts in Kandhamal, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Mayurbhanj, Malkangiri, Rayagada and Sundargarh have been reserved for ST contestants in the panchayat elections expected to be held early this year.
