Odisha Govt Restructures Cadres In Lab Technician & Pharmacist Services

Bhubaneswar: In view of the increase in number of public health facilities and patient load in hospitals, the Odisha government has restructured the Odisha Laboratory Technician Service Cadre and the Odisha Pharmacist Service Cadre.

The Health and Family Welfare department, in a notification on Monday, stated that the total cadre strength in Restructured Odisha Laboratory Technician Service has been increased to 2,581.

Out of sanctioned strength of 2235 base level posts of Laboratory Technician, 790 posts have been abolished in lieu of creation of 1030 posts at different levels in the cadre hierarchy leaving 1445 posts at base level. The base level post of Laboratory Technician will be re-designated as Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT).

The existing 100 posts of Senior Laboratory Technician have been redesignated as Technical Officer (MLT) at the same pay level. Besides, 623 posts of Technical Officer (MLT), Level-II have been created taking the total to 723 posts.

The existing 6 posts of Technical Supervisor will be redesignated as Technical Officer (MLT), Level-I at the same pay level. In addition to this, 305 posts of Technical Officer (MLT), Level-I will be created taking the total to 311 posts.

Moreover, 101 posts of Chief Technical Officer (MLT) and one post of Assistant Director will be created.

In the Odisha Pharmacist Service, the cadre strength has been increased to 5,009. Out of sanctioned strength of 3490 posts of Pharmacist, 792 posts have been abolished in lieu of creation of 1729 posts at different levels. The base level post of Pharmacist will be re-designated as Pharmacy Officer.

The existing 508 posts of Senior Pharmacist at Pay Level -9 will be re-designated as Senior Pharmacy Officer, Level-II. In addition to this, 927 posts of Senior Pharmacy Officer, Level-II at Level-9 will be created taking the total to 1435 posts.

The existing 72 posts of Chief Pharmacist at Level-10 will be re-designated as Senior Pharmacy Officer Level-I. In addition to this, 695 posts of Senior Pharmacy Officer, Level-I will be created.

Besides, 107 posts of Chief Pharmacy Officer and 2 posts of Assistant Director at Pay Level-12 will be created, the department said.
