Bhubaneswar: The state government has revised the daily target for COVID vaccination for all the districts and Bhubaneswar urban region.
In an official order to district collectors, municipal commissioners and CDM&PHOs, additional chief secretary, Health department Pradipta Mohapatra said the vaccination target has been revised after taking into account the feedback from the collectors and expected vaccine supply from Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW).
Ganjam district has been set the highest target of 35,000 vaccination, followed by Puri with 26,000 and Cuttack and Balasore with 25,000 each daily. Bhubaneswar Urban will vaccinate 7,000 people taking the state’s total daily vaccination target to 4,13,000.
Mohapatra said while the MoHFW supplies all syringes for the COVID vaccination programme, it has been found that the vaccine supply is made earlier than the syringes, causing a temporary shortage of syringes.
In order to solve the problem, all districts are allowed to borrow required syringes (0.5ml/1 ml/2 ml) from the Odisha State Medical Corporation Limited (OSMCL) and temporarily divert the same for COVID vaccination. Once the syringes supplied by the Ministry reaches, the same can be recouped, the order stated.
