Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Tuesday revised the daily ration cost under the mid-day meal (MDM) programme for 2020-21.
“The government, after careful consideration, has revised the daily ration cost from Rs 4.93 to Rs 5.42 and Rs 7.36 to Rs 8.10 for the students of Primary and Upper Primary schools, respectively, with effect from April 1 for 2020-21,” State Nodal officer of MDM Gangadhar Sahoo stated in a letter to the district collectors.
He said that the day-to-day expenditure is to be made on the prevailing market price and availability of seasonal vegetables, keeping the average unit cost of expenditure to Rs 5.42 for the Primary School students and Rs 8.10 for the Upper Primary students.
The management authority will have the flexibility over the items and ingredients of the MDM expenditure subject to the condition that the average unit cost is not exceeded,” Sahoo added.
