Bhubaneswar: In the wake of brutal attack on an Odia youth in Tamil Nadu, the Odisha government has deputed an officer to the southern state to conduct a probe, even as Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed grace concern over the incident.
Condemning the incident, the Chief Minister said that the state government has taken the matter very seriously and is in constant contact with the Tamil Nadu administration.
“Necessary steps are being taken at the administrative level to ensure the victim receives the best possible treatment and assistance, and that the culprits are given severe punishment,” Majhi said in a post on X
The safety and dignity of Odia people remain a top priority for the state government, he s
aid. “The safety and self-respect of every Odia brother and sister working outside the state are paramount to us. Our government is committed to ensuring their protection,” the CM said.
Meanwhile, Labour Minister Ganesh Ram Singh Khuntia said The Minister stated that the Odisha officer sent to Tamil Nadu will conduct an inquiry and submit a detailed report to the state government. The Tamil Nadu government has also been urged to take strict action against those responsible, he said.
It may be noted that the incident took place near railway quarters at Tiruttani in Tamil Nadu on December 27. A video showing three minors brutally assaulting an Odia youth went viral on social media.
The youth was travelling from Chennai to Tiruttani in a local train when an argument broke out with four intoxicated minors over making social media reels. After the train reached Tiruttani, the minors allegedly dragged the Odia youth out and assaulted him.
As per information, the Tamil Nadu Police detained four minors after the video went viral on social media. They are currently questioning the minors in connection with the incident.
