Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government is planning to introduce a new scheme in order to ensure effective conservation and management of temples and mutts in the state.
This was disclosed by Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan on Monday. The proposed ‘Debalaya Yojana’ will go a long way in proper conservation of temples and mutts in the state, he told reporters.
He said the proposed scheme will also address the issues pertaining to the functioning of religious institutions across the state. It will ensure proper management of temples.
Considering the problems faced by the temple authorities in the state, the state government is planning to bring out a dedicated scheme to address such issues, the Minister said.
Harichandan said Augmentation Basic Amenities and Development of Heritage and Architecture (ABADHA) scheme launched by the previous BJD government only aimed at carrying out repair works of the temples, while the new scheme will address many other issues faced by the temple authorities in the state.
To begin with, problems related to repair, restoration and temple management will be addressed under the new initiative and a blueprint for the scheme is being prepared by the government, the Minister said. s
