Bhubaneswar: In order to promote renewable energy, the state government has signed an agreement with National Hydroelectric Corporation (NHPC).
According to a Power Ministry statement, the NHPC signed promoters agreement with Green Energy Development Corporation of Odisha Ltd (GEDCOL), a state PSU, to form a joint venture to set up 500-MW floating solar power projects in Odisha.
As per the agreement signed on January 4, the joint venture (JV) will make an initial investment of around Rs 2,000 crore to set up 300-MW floating solar projects on different water bodies in the state to generate 600 million units (MU) per annum.
The agreement was signed by AK Singh, CMD of NHPC and Bishnupada Sethi, chairman, OHPC and CMD, GEDCOL in presence of Odisha’s Minister of State for Energy Dibya Shankar Mishra, the statement said.
