Cuttack: Odisha government has decided to take specific measures to counter leakage of Matric question papers, as witnessed during annual examinations this year.

Talking to mediapersons after announcing the results of the annual Matric examination at the Board of Secondary Education’s headquarters on Tuesday, principal secretary, School and Mass Education, Pradipta Mahapatra said that from next year, installation of CCTV cameras will be made mandatory at all examination centres.

“This apart, it has been decided that there will be a secret code for each question paper so that if any question paper is leaked, the student who has leaked it and his/her centre can be easily identified,” he said.

Mahapatra further said that the Odisha Teachers Eligibility Test (OTET) and the Odisha Secondary School Teacher Eligibility Test (OSSTET) examinations will be conducted online from next year.

Referring to evaluation of 108 OMR (Optical Mark Recognition) sheets that had gone missing from Padia High School in Malkangiri district during the annual exams, Mahapatra said that the students were given marks in proportion to marks they had secured in the subjective papers.

Talking about students of three schools where the English subject examination was cancelled because of malpractices, he said students of these schools will appear for this subject in the supplementary examination.

Notably, BSE had cancelled the English subject examination at Ghunsar Government High School in Balangir, PR High School in Dhenkanal and Krupasindhu Nodal High School at Gopinathpur in Cuttack district because of rampant malpractices on February 25.

A total of 222 students of Ghunsar Government High School, 226 of PR High School and 227 of Krupasindhu High School will appear for the English subject in the supplementary examination.
