Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government is still reviewing the report submitted by Development Commissioner Anu Garg on the stampede during Rath Yatra in Puri that claimed three lives, according to Law minister Prithiviraj Harichandan’s written reply in the Assembly.
Garg had submitted the inquiry report on the stampede near Shree Gundicha Temple in Puri during Rath Yatra to Chief Minister Mohan Majhi on July 31.
In his written response in the Assembly, Harichandan noted that the CM had ordered an administrative inquiry hours after the stampede on June 30. Garg was asked to investigate the cause and recommend preventive measures within a month.
The government, however, parried the query on whether Garg’s report will be made public.
In a separate response regarding the 2024 Rath yatra mishap when the idol of Lord Balabhadra accidentally fell while being taken to Gundicha Temple from the chariot, Harichandan said the details of the investigation into the incident have not been made public but were discussed in the Shree Jagannath Temple Management Committee meeting on August 30, 2024.
