Bhubaneswar: The newly-elected BJP government in Odisha will bring a compressive policy within 100 days to ensure prosperity of farmers in the state.
During his visit to Suando village, the birthplace of Utkalamani Gopabandhu Das, Chief Minister Mohan Majhi said that “Samruddha Krushaka Niti’ (Comprehensive Agriculture Policy) will help to resolve several problems being faced by the farming community while empowering them.
He further stated that the promises made in the BJP’s poll manifesto, Sankalpa Patra, are the guarantees of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The CM along with his cabinet colleagues, including his deputies KV Singhdeo and Pravati Parida, paid floral tribute to Gopabandhu Das and also discussed local issues with the people there.
Earlier in the day, they had visited Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri and witnessed the ‘Mangala Alati’ of the Lords following which all four gates, which had remained shut since COVID pandemic, were reopened.
On Wednesday, the first cabinet meeting of the BJP government chaired by Majhi took four major decisions, including reopening of the four gates of the 12th-century shrine to facilitate free flow of devotees for seamless darshan of the sibling deities. The Cabinet also decided to create a corpus of Rs 500 crore for conservation, repair, renovation and management of the revered temple.
The proposal to increase the minimum support price (MSP) of paddy to Rs 3,100 per quintal was also approved. The CM said that the Agriculture department has been asked to prepare guidelines and an elaborate action plan for a progressive agriculture policy within the next 100 days and submit to the government for consideration and approval.
