Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Majhi on Thursday announced fresh appointments to 5,000 home guard posts in Odisha.
“While 2,416 home guard posts are lying vacant, 2,584 more will be created, following which fresh appointments will be made,” he said after flagging off 30 ERSS vehicles at the headquarters of the Commissionerate Police, Bhubaneswar-Cuttack, for faster and immediate response during emergencies.
He said that these would be among the 10,000 posts to be filled up soon in the Home Department to strengthen the security apparatus in the state. “This apart, a decision to increase their daily allowance has also been taken,” he added.
This comes almost three months after the state government decided to lift the ban on recruitment of home guards, which was in force from February 2020. The CM had then also announced extension of compassionate appointment to home guards killed in the line of duty.
