Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government is all set to create a large number of additional posts in the health sector to provide better facilities and services to the people.
The state Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday approved proposals to amend the rules for the recruitment of health staff including pharmacists, nurses and radiographers in the state.
The Cabinet gave its nod for the further amendment of Odisha Multipurpose Health Worker (Female) Service (Method of Recruitment and Conditions of Service) Rules, 2019.
It was also decided to restructure the Multipurpose Health Worker (Female) cadre and created additional posts in the state. With this, the cadre strength of Multipurpose Health Workers (Female) has gone up to 15,831 from the existing 13,966.
A proposal for the further amendment of Odisha Multipurpose Health Worker (Male) Service (Method of Recruitment and Condition of Service) Rules, 2019 got the Cabinet nod. Besides, the government has created additional posts and restructured the Multipurpose Health Worker (Male) cadre in the state. With the creation of new posts, the cadre strength of Multipurpose Health Worker (Male) has gone up to 12,341 from the existing number of 6,538.
Moreover, the Cabinet has okayed the Odisha Radiographer Service (Methods of Recruitment and Conditions of Service) Amendment Rules, 2024. As per the Cabinet decision, the cadre strength of radiographers in the state will go up to 1,160 from the existing number of 695.
Similarly, Odisha Laboratory Technician Service (Methods of Recruitment and Conditions of Service) Amendment Rules, 2024 got the Cabinet approval. Besides, the government has decided to raise the cadre strength of Laboratory Technicians to 2,581 from the existing 2,235.
The cadre strength of pharmacists in the state has been enhanced to 5,009 from the existing 3,490. The Odisha Pharmacist Service (Methods of Recruitment and Conditions of Service) Amendment Rules, 2024 also got the Cabinet approval.
As per the Cabinet decision, the strength of nursing service cadre in the state will be raised to 28,684 from the existing 28,285.
This apart, the Cabinet approved the amendment of rules for the recruitment of nursing officers in the state.
