Bhubaneswar: In order to prevent fire mishaps in the hospitals, Odisha government has issued order to form task force in all municipal corporations and districts.
Chief secretary Manoj Ahuja has issued direction for formation of a joint task force comprising the officials of Health and Home departments and Electrical Inspectors in municipal corporations and districts, a release from Health and Family Welfare department said on Sunday.
The task force would conduct periodical audit of fire and electrical safety in all hospitals and nursing homes within its jurisdiction.
For the health facilities under the municipal corporation, the task force will consist of the Municipal Commissioner as Chairman, Police SP/DSP, Directors of Capital Hospital, Bhubaneswar/RGH, Rourkela/CDM and PHO, Fire Officer, Additional Chief Engineer-cum-Electrical Inspector/Superintendent Engineer-cum-Deputy Electrical Inspector as members.
Similarly for the districts, the task force will comprise district collector as Chairman, Superintendent of Security, CDM&PHO, Assistant Fire Officer and Superintendent Engineer-cum-Deputy Electrical Inspector as members.
The Health department will provide a list of hospitals and nursing to the corporations and district administration. The task force will carry out the periodical audit and maintain a record of it, the release stated.
The chief secretary’s order comes in the wake of fire mishaps in two private hospitals in Cuttack city on Saturday.
