Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government is taking steps to frame fresh guidelines for Subhadra Yojana to ensure that the benefit of the scheme reaches all eligible women.
New guidelines will seek to address the issue pertaining to the rejection of applications of many women on various grounds.
Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida said new guideline will be framed to facilitate inclusion of maximum beneficiaries under Subhadra Yojana. A high-level meeting will be held on the issue on Friday afternoon, she said.
The meeting will discuss the rejected list of 2.67 lakh applicants and take a decision on how to conduct scrutiny and verification of applications, Parida said, adding that the objective is to enable the applicants whose applications were rejected to be covered under the scheme.
The Deputy CM said that the third phase of Subhadra money in first instalment will be released very soon. While the date is yet to be announced, all the beneficiaries, who were left out in previous two phases, will receive Rs 5,000 in third phase.
Around 60 lakh women beneficiaries have received Rs 5,000 each under Subhadra Yojana in the first two phases of the first installment.
Notably, the ambitious scheme aimed at empowerment of women was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 17 this year. Around 25 lakh women beneficiaries had received money in the first phase, while more women got the assistance in the second phase of disbursement on October 9.
