Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government is all set to hold ‘Subhadra Shakti Mela’ in Bhubaneswar from Saturday with an aim to transform the lives of women belonging to Self Help Groups (SHGs).
SHGs from all 30 districts of the state are slated to participate in the nine-day event scheduled to be held at Janata Maidan in the state capital. The fair will conclude on March 2.
Noting that the BJP government is holding such a fair to showcase a wide range of quality products produced by women SHGs across the state in the city, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida said it will help in creat Lakhpati Didis visioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Over 700 SHGs from across the state will take part in the mela and showcases their products at more than 300 stalls. The event will feature over 200 types of products including handlooms, handicrafts, millets, organic products, spices, terracotta and bamboo items, she told reporters.
The Deputy CM made it clear that the event has no connection with the flagship programme ‘Subhadra Yojana’ of the state government.
“Subhadra Shakti Mela is not part of the Subhadra scheme. This is an effort by the state government to provide a world-class platform for SHGs to showcase and sell their products and make them Lakhpati Didis,” she added.
