Bhubaneswar: Odisha government has decided to implement aspirational curriculum in schools with emphasis on coding and life skill-based learning.
This was revealed during a review meeting of the School and Mass Education department by Minister of School and mass Education Nityananda Gond in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday.
The minister said the standard of education must be enhanced in all government and government aided schools in the state. In the initial stage, infrastructure, educational environment and school management should be emphasised, he added.
“Good education in all government and government-aided schools is the priority of the government and various programmes will be executed in this direction,” he said.
It was decided at the meeting to implement aspirational curriculum in every school with emphasis on coding, project-based curriculum, and life skill-based learning, linguistic creativity.
The minister instructed the department officers to ensure that the study materials reach every block on time in the coming academic year. He also directed to review the causes that led government and government-aided schools to be closed.
The review meeting discussed the steps to be taken to ensure quality education to the students and development of the infrastructure of primary schools. A decision was taken to speed up various works initiated by the department towards establishment of FLN classrooms. It was revealed that Asset Management Software is being developed which will bring a big change in the education sector.
The meeting also decided to give new look to Odisha Adarsh Vidyalaya (OAV) under the department. The Minister emphasised on strengthening residential facilities for students.
Besides, the high schools (HS) will be converted into higher secondary schools (HSS) on the basis of the local area, web publishing of e-content will be done for the convenience of students in higher secondary education and textbooks will be made available through the official website.
Additional secretaries, joint secretaries, academic advisors and senior officers were present in the meeting, Aswathy S, secretary of the department briefed on various schemes, programmes, initiatives and activities undertaken by the department.
