Bhubaneswar: In order to ensure optimum utilisation of students’ potentials to build aspirations, the Odisha government will introduce School Clubs in all secondary schools from 2023-24 academic year.
Speaking at the 39th Executive Council meeting of Mo School Abhiyan, secretary Aswathy S stressed on smooth implementation of club system and reintroduction of Student Cabinets in all elementary schools with support from alumni members.
These clubs will supplement the newly introduced aspirational curriculum of the government. It will also offer a platform for the students to pursue their interests and hobbies beyond the classroom. The suggestive names of the clubs are Sahitya Srujani, Jigyansa, Kaushali and Kridangan.
Each club will be led by students and mentors will be designated for every club to guide students in organising various activities. In collaboration with Odia Language Literature and Culture Department, Department of Sports, Odisha Biodiversity Board, Odisha Bigyan Academy, Regional Science Centre, Institute of Mathematics, UNICEF, Intel Corporation, Learning Links Foundation, Quest Alliance, Raspberry Pi Foundation and British Council, Mo School will roll out club activities in all transformed high schools.
The transformation of schools cabinet will facilitate collaborative and interactive learning to students by providing opportunities of learning by doing. By using its alumni network, Mo School will develop communication skills, sense of responsibility and other social skills among students.
Proposals worth Rs 96.53 crore from 27 districts were approved at the Executive Council meeting. As many as 10,931 alumni have joined hands with Mo School Abhiyan and contributed Rs 6.85 crore for the development of their alma mater in the past two months. Mo School Abhiyan has received grants worth Rs 25.05 crore from various CSR funds.
Coupled with the donors’ contribution, CSR funds and double matching grant from the government, the Executive Council has approved projects worth Rs 96.53 crore which will be availed in the development of the 2513 primary, upper primary and high schools across the state.
