Bhubaneswar: The state government has decided to issue digital document of motor vehicles replacing the paper ones from next year.
In order to ensure better service to the vehicle users and eliminate delays, driving licence (DL), registration certificate (RC) and other vehicle related document will be issued digitally from January 1, 2022, the Commerce and Transport department said in a notification.
The department is developing a portal where the document can be downloaded by the persons concerned. Besides saving the time and visits to RTO office, it will cut down the costs.
The department took the decision after its agreement with a New Delhi-based firm for issuing smart card-based DL, RC, learner’s licence, fitness certificate and other document expired in July.
