Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government is all set to distribute new ration cards to the beneficiaries from next month, Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra said on Wednesday.
The government will start issuing new ration cards after completion of scrutiny of over ten lakh applications, the Minister said.
The authorities were earlier busy in conducting verification of e-KYC of the applicants for new ration cards
The government had earlier stated that it would exclude ineligible beneficiaries from the list of ration card holders under the Food Security Act.
As many as 12 criteria have been laid down by the government for inclusion of eligible families. Similarly, ten criteria have been outlined for exclusion of ineligible families.
Instruction has been issued to the officials concerned to remove any ineligible beneficiaries from the list to ensure that only deserving families are provided with the fresh ration cards.
