Bhubaneswar: In order to encourage the youths to take active participation in sports, culture and social work, Odisha government has launched a new scheme under Integrated Youth Development Programme (IYDP).
Speaking to the media after a high-level meeting on the scheme on Friday, Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak, Minister of Higher Education, said it would cover 687 higher education institutions including all government, government aided colleges and universities.
The institutions will organise competitions among the students in the field of sports, culture and social work related activities from November 15 to December 31. Later, youth festivals will be organised under the scheme at the district and state levels.
For successful implementation of the scheme, Sports and Youth Services Department has placed funds and implementation guidelines.
These activities will provide a platform to the youths to develop their leadership, team spirit and individual talents. Besides, they will be connected with the larger community, the minister said.
Secretary, Higher Education Arabinda Agrawal; Special Secretary Promod Kumar Mishra; Director, Higher Education Bhabani Sankar Chayani, Principals, lecturers, students and other department officers were present.
