Odisha Govt To Provide Affordable Houses In Bhubaneswar, Price Starting From Rs 14L: Minister

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has decided to launch a unique project to provide houses at affordable prices to people in Bhubaneswar.

This was announced by Housing and Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra on Thursday. The initiative aims to make home ownership possible for families struggling with high property costs in the state capital, he said.

The government has decided to construct and provi

de affordable houses for common people, he said, adding that agencies like Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) and Housing Board will provide constructed houses instead of allotting land.

As part of the initiative, houses of different categories priced between Rs 14 lakh and Rs 50 lakh will be made available, the Minister told reporters.

As part of a pilot project, 90 houses have already been constructed. These houses are of the 2BHK type to cater to the needs of lower income and medium income groups.

The government will construct and provide these houses at low cost. Initially, these houses will be allotted to slum dwellers. Arrangements are being made to provide housing to more and more common people. Steps would also be taken to arrange tie-up with banks for the benefit of common people, the Minister added.
