Bhubaneswar: Authorised social media handles of Information & Public Relations Dept and Fire Services have been instructed to provide update on all development related to Cyclone ‘Dana’ and rain at 3 hour intervals from October 24 night to October 25 evening.
“In view of the cyclonic storm DANA over Bay of Bengal, the government has decided that authorized social media handles of I&PR and Fire Services must communicate ail the development related to cyclone and rain at regular intervals and it should be done at 3 hour duration from 24 October night to 25 October evening,” the official note from Additional Special Relief Commissioner Padmanav Behera said.
Cyclone ‘Dana’, is expected to make landfall on Odisha-West Bengal coasts close to Bhitarkanika and Dhamra in the early hours of October 25. The storm will bring very heavy rainfall and strong winds to several Odisha and West Bengal districts during the next three days, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Storm surge of 1-2 metres is expected in Kendrapada, Bhadrak and Balasore.
The outer bands of the system have already touched the coasts in Bhadrak and Kendrapada as seen by radar from Paradip, stated senior IMD scientist Umashankar Das.
