Puri: The Odisha government has decided to provide masks to the sevayats of Jagannath Temple in Puri.
Briefing media persons here on Wednesday, Chief Administrator of Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) Krishan Kumar said that about 5000 masks will be provided to the sevayats. The masks will be provided either by Boyanika or self-help groups (SHGs). The design of the mask will be finalised in a couple of days. “It is our responsibility to safeguard the health of the sevayats,” he added.
Referring to the allowances paid to the sevayats for the closure of the temple due to the COVID-19 lockdown, Kumar said that while the state government has provided Rs 5000 to each sevayat family in the first phase, the same amount will be provided to the in the second phase very soon.
About the construction of the three chariots, the chief administrator said that the construction is going on war-footing and will be completed in time.
Asked whether the Rath Yatra will be conducted, he hoped that it will take place as planned.
