Odisha Govt To Recruit 972 Lecturers For Non-Govt Aided Colleges, Know Selection Criteria

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government has decided to fill up 972 direct payment (DP) posts of lecturers in different subjects in the non-government aided colleges treating those as base-level posts.

The Higher Education Department, in a letter, has asked the State Selection Board (SSB) to begin the recruitment process at the earliest.

The candidates belonging to PWD/ex-servicemen /sportspersons when selected as per reservation provided for them (4%, 1% and 1% respectively) shall be adjusted against the subjects and categories to which they belong. Out of 4% reservations for persons with disabilities (PWD), one per cent reservation shall be earmarked for women with disabilities.

However, the exchange of reservation between Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (ST) shall not be considered.

In each category, reservation for women candidates shall be given from each category In case of non-availability of eligible/suitable women candidates(s) belonging to the respective categories, the unfilled vacancies of that category may be filled up by eligible/suitable male candidate(s) of the same category, the letter stated.

Education-wise, a candidate should possess Masters Degree in the subject concerned from a recognised university with at least 55% marks or its equivalent grade. However, candidates belonging to the SC, ST, Socially and Educationally Backward Castes (SEBC) and PWD shall possess a Master’s Degree in the concerned subject from a recognized University with at least 50% marks or its equivalent grade.

The selection shall be on the basis of written test, career and viva-voce test while for the career assessment, the total weightage in marks will be 25.

The selection shall be made in the following successive stages:

Career – 25 Marks
Written – 150 Marks
Viva-voce – 25 Marks
Total – 200 Marks

The written test of 150 marks in the subject concerned shall be based on multiple-choice questions as may be decided by SSB.

The candidates shall be called for an interview by SSB in order of merit equal to three times the number of vacancies in any subject if the number of vacancies is between above 5 and below 100. For up to 3 vacancies, it is 10 candidates and for vacancies between 3 and 05, 15 candidates shall be called for the viva.

To be eligible for the interview, a candidate has to secure minimum qualifying marks of 40% (30 pc in case of ST/SC/SCBC/PWD candidates) in the written examination.

The age limit for the general category shall be 21 years and the maximum age shall be 42 years as on May 31, 2021.

The upper age limit prescribed above is relaxable by 5 years for SC, ST and SEBC candidates and all women while the upper age limit is relaxable by 10 years for the PWD candidates, whose disability is not less than 40 pc. There will be age relaxation for ex-servicemen as per the government guidelines.

As regards the application fee, a non-refundable and non-adjustable fee of Rs 500 only for the candidates coming under the unreserved category, and Rs 200 for the SC, ST and PWD candidates will be collected. The amount shall be deposited through online transfer in favour of SSB at any branch of State Bank of India.

The decision of the SSB in the selection shall be final and binding, the letter pointed out.
