Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Saturday announced that another phase of money in first instalment of assistance under the Subhadra Yojana will be released this month. The government is set to release the fifth phase money of the first instalment on March 6, the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) said.
Around 1.7 lakh women beneficiaries are slated to receive the Subhadra scheme money in the fifth phase of first instalment on March 6, it said in a post on X handle.
Similarly, over one crore beneficiaries would get the second instalment of financial assistance under the flagship Subhadra Yojana on the occasion of International Women’s Day on March 8. as per the promise made by the government, it said.
Earlier, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida had said that the second instalment money under the scheme would be disbursed to around one crore women beneficiaries at a special event to be held in Berhampur on the occasion of International Women’s Day on March 8.
“Subhadra Yojana will touch the target of one crore. At least one crore women will receive their money during a special programme on March 8 in Berhampur,” she had said. Over 98 lakh women have so far been benefitted under the scheme in last four phases of first instalment.
The scheme forms part of a broader strategy to ensure that financial resources effectively reach those most in need, contributing to both economic stability and social welfare.
Subhadra Yojana was launched on September 17, 2024, after formation of BJP government in Odisha. While Rs 5,000 was credited to bank accounts of 25 women beneficiaries in first phase, around 39 lakh women were benefitted under the scheme in the second phase on Oct 9 last year. The 3rd phase money was disbursed to 20 lakh women beneficiaries on November 24 and more than 18 lakh women beneficiaries received Rs 5,000 amount on February 8, 2025.
The scheme will be implemented within 2024-25 and 2028-29 financial years. The state government has made an outlay of Rs 55, 825 crore for this purpose.
