Bhubaneswar: Odisha government has decided to run buses to important pilgrim places across the country from different places of the state.
According to sources, the decision was taken at a review meeting by Commerce and Transport Minister Bibhuti Jena on the performance of the Odisha State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC) in Bhubaneswar on Monday.
He said the OSRTC buses would ply the special buses from major cities including Puri, Bhubaneswar, Berhampur and Rourkela soon. The buses will go to pilgrim places like Ayodhya, Tirupati, Varanasi, Vrindavan and Mahakaleswar.
It was also decided that special provision will be made to facilitate transport of the devotees from across the state to Puri on the occasion of Rath Yatra on July 7. The OSRTC buses would ply from all block headquarters on the Rath Yatra day only.
On the LAccMI scheme, the minister reportedly said the government would provide bus services in those places of the state where there is no bus connectivity. The name of the scheme is not important so long as people get bus services for their daily communication in all areas of the state, he added.
