Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has decided to seek inputs from the people to prepare its vision document “Viksit Odisha @ 2036”.
The decision was taken at the first meeting of the state-level steering committee for preparation of the Vision Document “Viksit Odisha @ 2036 for Viksit Bharat @ 2047” in Bhubaneswar on Saturday.
Chairing the meeting, Chief Secretary and chairman of the steering committee Manoj Ahuja said the preparation of the Vision Document is a unique opportunity for us. “This will have our priority and approach to prepare a realistic document in a much more disciplined manner and for this, the cooperation of all sectoral groups of secretaries is necessary,” he said.
The meeting took stock of the first round meeting held by 6 sectoral group of secretaries. Preliminary presentations on progress made by sectoral groups working on the areas including Economy, Industries and Infrastructure, Social & Human Development, Culture & Heritage, Technology and Innovation, Good Governance and Rural Transformation were discussed.
Development Commissioner and member of the Steering Committee Anu Garg briefed about the progress of work of different sectoral groups and suggested that the Vision Document should be in the context of ensuring regional balance and social and economic development of the state.
She also suggested to follow international best practices in different sectors. The vision document should aim to be aspirational for a developed Odisha by 2036 to meet the national aspirations of developed India by 2047, she added.
It was agreed at the meeting that the sectoral groups and the Steering Committee will obtain inputs from the citizens, civil society organisations, policymakers, academia, public intellectuals, think tanks, business, and industry leaders to prepare the Vision Document.
A proposal to launch a web portal to obtain suggestions/feedback from the public through digital platforms was also discussed.
Additional Chief Secretary, Home, Forest, Environment and Climate Change Department Satyabrata Sahoo; ACS, Steel and Mines Department Surendra Kumar, Principal Secretaries and Secretaries who are members of various sectoral groups participated in the discussion.
