Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government is planning to launch five mega drinking water projects in Delang area of Puri district, the state Assembly was informed on Tuesday.
Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Minister Rabinarayan Naik gave this information while answering a question by Pipili MLA Ashrit Patnaik in the House. Water from Daya river will utilised for starting these propose projects in Delang area, he said.
A reservoir will also be constructed over Daya river for storage of water to ensure proper use, he said.
Claiming that the previous government in the state did not want to implement the water resources plan of the Centre, the Minister said many projects have been delayed in the state because of this.
Since DPRs were not prepared in time, several projects can be completed only in 2026.
Similarly, steps are also being taken for conversion of saline sea water for drinking purpose.
