Bhubaneswar: An artificial limb manufacturing centre will be set up by the Odisha government at Gurujang in Khurda district. The department of Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities has allocated Rs 15.30 lakh for the first phase of work for the proposed centre, sources said.
The district administration held a meeting in this regard on Saturday. A decision was taken to run the centre at Gurujang primary school which has been lying closed after merger of some schools.
The department of Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities has provided Rs 15.30 lakh to the block authorities for repair and renovation of the school building.
Apart from the building repair, the administration will put in place facilities like toilets, a godown and replacement of old doors and windows at a cost of Rs 9.80 lakh. The block authorities will utilise the remaining Rs 5.50 lakh for electricity connection and purchase of electrical implement for the centre, sources added.
