Cuttack: The Odisha government is gearing up to set up a government coronavirus hospital with 500 beds and 50 ICUs at DRIEMS, Tangi in Cuttack district.
The District Collector on Friday wrote to the DRIEMS authorities to hand over the entire campus to PWD for the hospital work.
The Public Works Department has been directed to complete the work as soon as possible.
The DRIEMS campus has four boys’ hostels with 304 rooms, and a girls’ hostel with 130 rooms and an academic block among others. The entire infrastructure will be converted into wards, ICUs, OPD counters, laboratories, laundries and doctors and medical staff accommodation.
The Odisha government has also signed two tripartite agreements with SUM and KIMS medical colleges for setting up two hospitals with 1,000 beds for treating Covid-19 patients in Bhubaneswar.
