Bhubaneswar: To impart proper skills to unemployed tribal youths in the state, the Odisha Government will set up two new Industrial Training Institutes (ITI) in Sambalpur and Balangir districts.
This was announced by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. While one ITI will be set up at Kuchinda in Sambalpur district, another will come up at Patnagarh in Balangir. The step will immensely benefit the youths in the tribal-dominated region of the state, a release from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) said on Wednesday.
The new ITI at Kuchinda will be of great help for the youths of Bamra, Jamankira and Kuchinda areas. A total of 240 students will be imparted training in four trades, which can provide opportunities for employment and self-employment, it said.
A large number of industrial units coming up in Sambalpur and nearby areas will provide ample employment opportunities for the trained youths.
Similarly, the proposed ITI at Patnagarh will impart industrial training to 240 students in four different trades. Profession training in different trades will go a long way in enhancing the employability of youths, the release said.
It is pertinent to note that there are government and private ITIs in 251 of the 314 blocks in the state. Similarly, 48 of the 58 sub-divisions have ITIs. The number will increase up to 50 when the new institutes in Kuchinda and Patnagarh become functional, it added.
By acquiring professional training in different government and private institutes through the ‘Skilled in Odisha’ programme, youths have created a new identity for the state through their skills. The recently established World Skill Centre in Bhubaneswar has created many opportunities for the youngsters in the state.
