Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government is all set to begin paddy procurement for the Kharif marketing season 2024-25 in November at the enhanced minimum support price of Rs 3,100 per quintal.
Giving this information at a press meet in Bhubaneswar, BJP spokesperson Samir Ranjan Dash lashed out at the previous BJD government accusing it of having made false promises to the farmers.
He said the BJP government in the state has decided to begin the paddy procurement for this Kharif season from the farmers in Sohela block of Bargarh district from November.
The BJP leader alleged that the previous BJD government had cheated the paddy farmers about the MSP with its false promise of providing Rs 100 bonus per quintal of paddy.
However, the Mohan Majhi-led BJP government will procure paddy from the farmers by providing Rs 800 bonus per quintal of paddy, and thus the farmers will get MSP Rs 3,100 per quintal of paddy, Dash said.
The state government has also directed officials to simplify the procurement process at mandis (market yards) and ensure that farmers benefit from the increased MSP
