Bhubaneswar: With demand for a CBI probe into the murder of BJD leader Naba Kishore Das gaining momentum, Odisha Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan on Thursday said that the state government will take concrete steps to uncover the truth.
Stating that an atmosphere of fear prevailed after the murder of Naba Das in January 2023 when he was Health Minister, Harichandan told reporters that new information and facts are coming to light in connection with the daylight killing.
While people, including the family of Naba Das, were earlier afraid of speaking on the sensational murder, the situation has changed now and the present BJP government is committed to bringing out the truth.
With new information gradually coming to light, the state government will soon decide on the nature of the process needed for the case, the Minister said, adding that if the government feels there is a need for CBI enquiry, it will be decided accordingly.
While people were afraid of speaking up during the previous BJD regime, many are now coming forward with new information relating to the gunning down of Naba Das, he said, adding that even the slain leader’s family members were not ready to open up.
The Minister said all new information would be examined to obtain a clear picture on the murder perpetrator’s identity and motive and unravel the complete truth.
